Pure Anatolia, Passage to the Civilizations Tours in Turkey

Day 1 – IZMIR – EPHESUS Greeted at the airport IZMIR; tour begins with a short sightseeing tour in IZMIR including mount of PAGOS & AGORA; drive to SELÇUK, visit the shrine of Virgin MARY, ruins of EPHESUS; after lunch a visit to Museum of Selçuk; o/n in KUSADASI or SELÇUK. (L)

Day 2 – PAMUKKALE Drive to PAMUKKALE (cotton castle) with its wonderful formations of stalactites, and ancient city HIERAPOLIS with its necropolis & theatre. Overnight in PAMUKKALE. (L)

Day 3 – PAMUKKALE – ANTALYA Continue to ANTALYA, the southern point of the Turkish RIVIERA, a very attractive city with shady palm-lined Boulevards, a Marina and a picturesque & dreamlike old Cityquarter called KALEIÇI. After lunch, visit the most attractive Museum of TÜRKIYE. Overnight in ANTALYA. (L)

Day 4 – ANTALYA Full-day tour to the ancient cities of PERGE, ASPENDOS and SIDE, where you can see the last examples of gorgeous Roman Architecture. Overnight in ANTALYA. (L)

Day 5 – ANTALYA Free day for swimming at dreamlike KEMER-beaches (excl. lunch). Overnight in ANTALYA.

Day 6 – KONYA – CAPPADOCIA Early drive through the Anatolian countryside to KONYA, the city of whirling Dervishes, visit the Mausoleum of MEVLANA; continue to CAPPADOCIA with a stop at the Sultanhan Caravanserai; Overnight. (L)

Day 7 – CAPPADOCIA Full-day tour in CAPPADOCIA including the valleys of GÖREME & ZELVE, one of the underground cities DERINKUYU (or KAYMAKLI) used by early Christians for protection purposes; lunch en route, continue to ORTAHISAR & AVANOS. Overnight in Cappadocia. (L)

Day 8 – CAPPADOCIA – ANKARA After breakfast drive to ANKARA, and visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations and Mausoleum of ATATÜRK. Transfer to the airport. (L)
