Numerous religious traditions have called Istanbul their home. In particular, Sefardic Jews who immigrated to the city after 1492 will be the subject of our attention. Our professional guides will pick you up from your hotel and take you right to Galata, which is Istanbul’s well-known Jewish neighbourhood. There, you will be able to get up close and personal with the Galata Tower, which was constructed in 1303 by the Genoese and provides a sweeping view of the old city of Istanbul. The Neve Shalom and Askenazy Synagogues will be seen while in Galata. After Galata, you will off to the 500 Jewish Museum, a 16th-century synagogue that has been converted to house pictures, artwork, and other artefacts illuminating Istanbul’s Jewish population’s history. Let’s explore together.
Synagog visits are upon availability. Please enquire! For visit permits, a photocopy of the passport page with the photo is required four days in advance. For security purposes, passports are required during the tour.
