Day 01 – Upon arrival in Ankara our journey will start with Anitkabir, the eternal resting place of the founder of the modern Turkish Republic, Turk’s father Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Here you will hear the stories of how a nation was resurrected from its ashes. After lunch, we will proceed to the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, where you will admire its priceless Paleolithic, Neolithic, Hatti, Hittite, Phrygian, Urartian and Roman artefacts. Roman Baths would be our final stop in Ankara before we proceed to Cappadocia. En route, the natural beauty of Salt Lake and the ancient stopover hotel Agzikarahan Caravanserai will make your day. Late at dusk, we will be arriving in Cappadocia where dinner will be served.
Day 02 – After your breakfast at your hotel in Cappadocia, your first stop will be Devrent Valley where you will walk through this wonderful valley which is like a lunar landscape and has fairy chimneys and animal-shaped rocks. Next, you will go to Pasabagi or Monk’s Valley where there are more amazing rock formations in the shape of mushrooms with multiple caps and stems. You will be driven to Avanos which is famous for its pottery. The potters use red clay from the Kizilirmak River, the longest river in Turkey. After lunch, you will visit Goreme Open Air Museum. Please note that Dark Church is excluded as an additional admission fee is required. Here you will see monasteries, churches and other buildings carved into the fairy chimneys dating from the 10th – 13th centuries, with colourful frescoes on the walls. There will be a photo opportunity of the surrounding valleys before returning to the airport for your domestic flight back to Istanbul.
