This is a lovely cruise through the Sea of Marmara to the Prince Islands, a chain of nine islands off the coast of Istanbul. The largest is Buyukada which is now a popular summer destination with lovely scenery. Motorized vehicles are forbidden on the island so you will travel by electric-drawn carriages as you visit the places of historical interest. You will see many Ottoman-era mansions lining the streets and the palace and monastery complex built by the Byzantine Emperor Justin ll including a convent used for the exile of empresses. Among other buildings you will see are the Agia Yorgi Church and Monastery which dates back to the 6th century, the Agios Demetrios Church and the Hamidiye Mosque. In recent years, Buyukada has become popular among wealthy Turks, Greeks, Jews and Armenians. Lunch will be taken at a fish restaurant. During the tour Topkapi Palace, Leander’s Tower, and the Üsküdar District can be seen. You will return to Istanbul in the evening and transfer to your hotel.
